Your Initial Office Visit

Our main goal is to make your first office visit with us comfortable and informative. Your first appointment will consist of an examination and a discussion of any orthodontic needs. We will also recommend treatment options and the best timing for treatment.

The timing of your treatment is very important. You or your child may or may not be ready for treatment. Therefore a consultation will allow us to better understand your needs.

If you are a candidate for orthodontic treatment and would like to begin the process right away, we're able to get you started just as soon as you are ready – even as soon as your first visit!

Your Diagnostic Records

Before starting orthodontic treatment we will need to take diagnostic records. Diagnostic records consist of only a 3D scan of your teeth, head and neck. This scan eliminates the need for those gross, gooey impressions of your teeth. Once the scan has been reviewed, we will confirm your treatment plan, and you will be ready to start treatment.

If it is determined that orthodontic treatment is indicated, we can take diagnostic records at your initial visit to save you an additional appointment.

Treatment Visits

You periodic visits will be an important part of your orthodontic treatment. Generally, we will want to see you every 6 weeks to check your progress and make adjustments to your braces or appliances. During treatment, you will need to keep appointments, follow instructions, as well as practice good oral hygiene and proper nutrition.

Once your braces are removed, retainers are utilized to hold your teeth in their new positions until your bone, gums and muscles adapt to the new positions of the teeth.

Length of Treatment

Your smile is just as important to us as it is to you, and that's why we offer the latest in orthodontic technology. With the latest in braces that we offer, treatment may be between 6 months to 24 months, depending on the age of the patient, the severity of the problem and the patient's level of cooperation.

Routine Dental Care

During your orthodontic treatment, you should keep your routine dental check-ups with your family dentist.

Dr. James Homon  specializes in the treatment of orthodontic disorders, braces, clear braces, clear aligners and retainers to patients in and around Powell, Delaware, Westerville, Dublin, Worthington, Lewis Center, and Sunbury, Ohio.
