Your First Visit

Initial Visit

Our objective is to make your first visit with us pleasant and informative. Your initial appointment will consist of an examination and a discussion of the orthodontic needs of you or your child. We will also recommend the best treatment options and timing.

The timing of your treatment is very important. You or your child may or may not be ready for treatment. Therefore, a consultation will allow us to better understand your needs.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your first visit:

  • If you have dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.
  • Completed online or printed patient registration forms.

call to schedule or reschedule your appointmentsIf for some reason you cannot make it to your appointment, please contact our office at (614) 932-9356. By doing so you allow another patient to use that time as well as reschedule your appointment.

Diagnostic Records

Before starting orthodontic treatment we will need to take diagnostic records. Diagnostic records consist of study models and orthodontic x-rays. Once these orthodontic records have been obtained, Dr. Homon will review them to verify your treatment plan for your orthodontic needs.

If it is determined that orthodontic treatment is indicated, we can take diagnostic records at your initial visit to save you an additional appointment.

Successive Visits

Periodic visits are an important part of orthodontic treatment. Generally, we will want to see you every 4-6 weeks to check your progress and make adjustments to your braces or appliances. During treatment, you will need to keep appointments, follow instructions, as well as practice good oral hygiene and proper nutrition.

Once your braces are removed, retainers are utilized to hold your teeth in their new positions until your bone, gums, and muscles adapt to the new positions of the teeth.

Length of Treatment

Braces may be on between 6 months to 24 months, depending on the age of the patient, the severity of the problem, and the patient's level of cooperation.

Dental Care
