Initial Visit
Our objective is to make your first visit with us pleasant and informative. Your initial appointment will consist of an examination and a discussion of any orthodontic needs. We will also recommend treatment options and the best timing for treatment .
The timing of your treatment is very important. You or your child may or may not be ready for treatment. Therefore, a consultation will allow us to better understand your needs.
Diagnostic Records
Before starting orthodontic treatment we will need to take diagnostic records. Diagnostic records consist of only a 3D CT scan of the teeth, head, and neck. This scan eliminates the need for those gooey impressions of your teeth. Once the scan has been reviewed by Dr. Homon, he will confirm your treatment plan, and you will be ready to start treatment..
If it is determined that orthodontic treatment is indicated, we can take diagnostic records at your initial visit to save you an additional appointment.
Successive Visits
Periodic visits are an important part of orthodontic treatment. Generally, we will want to see you every 6 weeks to check your progress and make adjustments to your braces or appliances. During treatment, you will need to keep appointments, follow instructions, as well as practice good oral hygiene and proper nutrition.
Once your braces are removed, retainers are utilized to hold your teeth in their new positions until your bone, gums, and muscles adapt to the new positions of the teeth.
Length of Treatment
Braces may be on between 6 months to 24 months, depending on the age of the patient, the severity of the problem, and the patient's level of cooperation.
Dental Care
You should keep your regular visits to your family dentist during orthodontic treatment.
